Codesion's new Secure Application Fusion Engine (SAFE) technology powers our unique hosted Subversion and open source software delivery Platform. This highly iterated system has been enhanced by feature requests, security upgrades, and lessons learned by serving over 60,000 users since 2002.


Codesion Platform Highlights

Codesion’s technology delivers general and abstract solutions to minimize information redundancy across installations of multiple software applications. Codesion feeds customer account information into apps, databases and servers, eliminating the need to provision each separately (as you would do if setting up your own Subversion server). Codesion's integrated repository browser allows users to visually assign permissions, integrations, and per-user/group email notifications.

FrogSAFE Platform hardware infrastructure (pictured above) includes:

  • Multi-site server redundancy: The Codesion server network is physically distributed across two datacenters located in Dallas TX and Washington DC (Softlayer.com, a SAS-70 compliant vendor)
  • Firewalls: Dedicated Hardware and software firewalls on all publicly-facing servers
  • Service Clusters: Server clusters are optimized for each hosted application (i.e. SVN, CVS, Trac, Bugzilla)
  • Multi-master Authentication, Database, and DNS servers: Customer databases backed up in multiple datacenters
  • Backup Nodes: Active (Hot) and Static (Cold) Backups are taken to private subnet; backups distributed across the full network

The FrogSAFE Platform software architecture comprises:

  • Codesion Account Manager (AJAX-based web interface)
  • Codesion System API (XML RPC) provides direct programmatic access to system functions and customer information, allowing Codesion to integrate with 3rd party applications or your in-house systems
  • Provisioning Layer: Connects the AJAX and API input layers to an object oriented system of libraries. Multiple service "daemons" auto-provision new customer accounts or hardware devices
  • Back end layer: 3rd party database engines, file systems, LDAP, operating systems and infrastructure hardware

The Codesion FrogSAFE Platform also integrates (via API) to popular externally-hosted project management tools like Basecamp, FogBugz, and Lighthouse, or to your own in-house ticketing systems.
